It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Coat of arms

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Vert, crowned by a sailing ship Or with three masts Sable rigged Argent, in central chief a hyacinth Argent leaved of the same. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "S. JACINTO - AVEIRO"
The flower is alluding to St. Hyacinth, the local patron saint and name giver of the commune. The green waves in base are representing the Atlantic.

Presentation of São Jacinto

São Jacinto Commune is one of the ten communes of the Aveiro municipality (q.v.); it had 993 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 13.8 km².
