Description of the flag

Nations Without States [mnh96] gives a flag for the Hizb-i Jangali party, the largest nationalist party of the Gilaki people of Gilan province in Iran. It is a green flag with a white crescent and six-pointed star in the upper hoist. The book does support the belief that the flag shown for Gilaki nationalists is not likely tolerated. It describes the nationalist movement as underground, and mentions that mass executions have occurred in an attempt to suppress it.

Possible current flag

[Gilaki flag] image located by Jaume Olle, 17 January 2010 according to my friend from Sari (Gilan), this flag nowadays becomes prevalent in Gilan between many Gilanis (for national identity). The flag is horizontal tricolor of light blue, light green and black.
