The symbols of Grožnjan are described in the Municipal Statutes Statut Općine Grožnjan text), adopted on 28 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly.

The flag (photo) is described in proportions 2:1 (vertical), blue, bordered golden-yellow with the "historical coat of arms of Grožnjan" and with a swallow-tailed fly end. A vertical flag without tail is also used.

The coat of arms is in an oval shield, "Azure an arm proper issuant from sinister holding a fleur-de-lis slipped argent and issuant from the canton a sun or and in base a mount argent".
The Municipality Statutes simply say that the coat of arms is the historical coat of arms of the town, the original of which is set in the facade of the town's gallery "Fonticus" (photo).
