The municipality of Mahamud (146 inhabitants in 2009; 3,361 ha) is located 35 km of Burgos.
Mahamud was most probably resettled in the 10th century by Mozarabs - as "evidenced" by the village's name - and / or Basques, as "evidenced" by the Nuestra Señora de Báscones chapel./P>
